Valencia Qualified for EDC Quiz Bee Grand Finals

Two students from Valencia and Balugo National High School won the semi-finals of 16 schools during the Energy Development Corporation’s (EDC). The Negros Island Battle of the Brains (BOTB) Dumaguete leg was held last August 27, 2018. The two winners are qualified for the grand finals this September 14, 2018, in Dumaguete City.

Battle of the Brains – Environmental Quiz Bee

EDC announced on the first week of August that about 50 schools in Negros Oriental will be participating in an Environmental Quiz Bee. The event is also dubbed as the “Positive Energy Battle of the Brains Junior and Senior High”. Last August 27, 2018, two students, Claire Dane Vincoy and Mae Ann Alejado, won the semi-finals of the Battle of the Brains.

Smarter Schools’ STARBOOK in Dumaguete City

In relation to making schools progressive here in Negros Oriental, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) made a deal with the Department of Education (DepEd). The partnership of the two departments resulted in the launching of “Smarter Schools” through a grant-in-aid (GIA) project in Dumaguete City. The GIA project is also known as the “Smarter Schools in Digital Dumaguete Initiative” or SSIDDI.

The Department of Science and Technology officials have turned-over five units computer servers, 18 units 40” LED flat TV, seven units desktop computers, six laptop computers, six Arduino kits, and six Raspberry Pi kits worth Php 761,000 to DepEd Dumaguete City Division.

Science and Technology Academic Research Based Openly Operated Kiosks or STARBOOKS will be giving special privileges to seven public junior high schools and students, librarians STEM and ICT teachers from the 18 public elementary schools in the city.

PESO Dumaguete City Employs 10,823 Jobless

Thousands of people all over the world who finished a certain degree are still jobless. Despite the educational advantages, people still tend to find jobs every now and then. The Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in Dumaguete City released a Job Fair with 10,823 applicants. In partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the safety and security of every applicant are settled.
