International Rondalla Plucked String Music Festival 2018
Silay City of Negros Occidental will hold the biggest traditional music festival with hundreds of performers from all over the world. The Rondalla/Plucked String Music Festival is set for November 3 to 11, 2018.

The nine days International Rondalla/Plucked String Music Festival 2018 will be held in Silay City of Negros Occidental, about 242 km from Dumaguete City. Rondalla/Plucked String Music Festival is dubbed a the Cuerdas sang Paghiliusa which means Strings of Unity. In the year 2004, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) initiated the International Rondalla/Plucked String Music Festival.
This year’s celebration will mark the sixth International Rondalla/Plucked String Music Festival 2018 with about 300 Rondalla and String Musicians from all over the world. Joining the music festival are musicians from China, India, Iran, Israel, Japan, Mexico, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, Uganda, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
Putting Silay City & Negros on the World Map
The first ever International Rondalla/Plucked String Music Festival 2018 was held in 2004 at Naga City, followed by the 2007 edition held in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental. In 2011 the stringed and Rondalla music festival was held in Tagum City and Cultural Center of the Philippines in Manila in the year 2014. Abroad, it was held in Taiwan in 2015. This international string music festival 2018 will surely put Silay City and the whole Negros Island on the world map.
Silay City as well as Negros Occidental will be on the map,” Mayor Mark Golez of Silay City said
this is a big challenge I take which the people here would also love to accept,” he added.
