Rushing Mayor Remollo’s PHP 36.6 Million 2017 Projects

Dumaguete City Mayor Felipe Antonio “Ipe” Remollo has already assigned engineers who will make the projects a little bit faster to relieve the piled projects after some barangays complained about the “delayed” implementations of the PHP 36.6 Million worth of projects.

2017 Projects

In the year 2017, projects worth of PHP 78.6 Million have been approved for the development and improvement of the city. However, only PHP 14.57 Million (18.54%) of the 2017 projects have been completed. In some records, 38.23% of the 20% development fund (amounting to P 30.04 million) have no program of work as of September 30, 2017. On the other hand, unlaunched projects worth pf PHP 6.6 Million or 8.40 % are being processed with the purchasing the materials.

The projects under the 20% development budget includes the PHP 25 Million on widening, rehabilitation, and concreting of roads in various barangays; PHP 10 Million on the dumpsite and disposal system issues; PHP 12 Million on protection of shoreline (Coast Guards) and finally another PHP 10 Million for the construction of city and barangay roads, multipurpose and evacuation center and facilities.

Incoming 2018 Projects

With roughly only 2 and a half months by the end of 2017, Mayor Remollo has assigned the City Engineer’s Office to more or less rush things and finish all the projects before the end of the year. The 2018 Projects has already been confirmed to be worth PHP 84.6 million charged to the 20% development fund next year in all 30 barangays of Dumaguete City. The Clark Development Corp. have also approved projects worth of PHP 34.4 million for the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
