30th Southeast Asian Games 2019 Opening Ceremony

The Southeast Asian Games 2019 marks the 30th during the successful opening ceremony last November 30, 2019. The opening ceremony was held at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan. The opening ceremony lasted for an hour and a half.

SEA Games 2019 – Finally Open!

The program started with acknowledging the presence of Brunei’s Sultan and Prime Minister Hassanal Bolkiah and the Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Then, this was followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem sung by Lani Misalucha. A cultural dance was performed composing of some of the most famous Filipino dances and tribal rituals. A few singers were also able to perform during the ceremony. The parade of flags was also made to welcome the different countries in the Philippines. The president of the Philippines declared the SEA Games opened with these words “Mabuhay kayong lahat!” (Long live to you all).

The Southeast Asian Games Federation flag was carried by Lydia De Vega-Mercado (Asia’s fastest woman in track & field for 8 years), Akiko Thomson-Guevarra (7 times SEA Games gold medalist in swimming), Eric Buhain (15 times SEA Games gold medalist in swimming), Alvin Patrimonio (4 times PBA MVP & SEA Games gold medalist in basketball), Bong Coo (4 times world champion in bowling), Efren “Bata” Reyes (4 times World Eight Ball Champion in billiards), Mansueto “Onyok” Velasco (2 times SEA Games gold medalist & Olympic silver medalist in boxing), Rafael “Paeng” Nepomuceno (6 times World Champion in bowling).
