Negros Island Battle of the Brains Grand Finals
Five out of forty-five schools here in Negros made it to the Negros Island Battle of the Brains (BOTB) quiz bee, which will be held this coming September 5 at Robinson’s Place Dumaguete.
Negros Island Battle of the Brains
Celebrating its second yearly event in the island of Negros, the Battle of the Brain is themed “Renewable Energy for a Brighter Future”. The contest is aiming to bright a wider view for both the student and the school in the renewable energy trivia in all fields of the environment, climate change and issues, biodiversity, politics and current events related to the theme.
Brainy Finalists
- Vicente F. Gustilo Memorial National HS in Cadiz City (representing Bacolod and Northern Negros Occidental area)
- Ramon Torres Malingin National High School-Atipuluan Extension (Bago City from Central Negros)
- Southland College (Kabankalan from Southern Negros area)
- Negros Oriental High School
- Bais City National High School
Through this contest, participants and audiences alike learned about the benefits of renewable energy and its importance to the country as mentioned by the Energy Development Corporation (EDC) Corporate Communications Officer Frances Ariola.
“It is hoped that this will inspire the Negros youth to attempt to live more sustainably, and to teach and influence others to do the same,” Ariola added.
The champions from last year’s Battle of the Brains came from Bago National High School. The team who wins will receive Php 3,000.00 each as cash prize and will get a chance to win a gibber prize by competing at the Positive Energy Battle of the Brains trophy and cash prize of Php 30,000.00 at the grand finals. Not to mention the meet and greet TV star Robi Domingo (special guest at the BOTB grand finals).
