First Ever Carabao Festival in Negros! – Carabao de Colores 2018

The Carabao de Colores 2018 in the municipality of Vallehermoso, Negros Oriental is officially the first ever carabao festival in the whole island of Negros. This week-long event fell inline with the Vallehermoso Fiesta celebrations and replaced the Kanglambat Festival (official festival of Vallehermoso).

The main theme of the first ever Carabao Festival in Vallehermoso, Negros Oriental is rainbow. Not being too extravagant for such a soft-celebration of a new festival, the Carabao de Colores 2018 handled only seven carabao; each representing the colors of the rainbow. The whole fiesta celebration started on May 15 and ended on May 20, 2018.

There are different great events of the whole celebration. There is the carabao rodeo, Carabao de Colores Street Dancing Parade and Showdown, sand castle competition, Carabao de Colores Festival Queen Competition, and finally disco. The first carabao interaction event of the whole celebration was the rodeo. However, for the safety and health matters of the carabao the event was cancelled with the grow afternoon heat.

Carabao de Colores 2018 – Street Dancing and Showdown

The street dancing and showdown was held on May 18, 2018 at the basketball court fronting the municipal hall and around the town streets; respectively. The first group performance set foot on the road with their bright red costumes. The spectators along the streets was full of cheers. They were more cheered when they finally saw the first painted carabao to set foot along the Vallehermoso streets.

The order of the performing groups went as followed: red group, orange group, yellow group, green group, blue group, indigo group and finally violet group.

A day after the street dancing and showdown, the Miss Carabao de Colores Festival Queen was held. The seven candidates battled their way to win the title as the first ever Carabao de Colroes Festival Queen 2018 in Negros Oriental! After the awarding of the different categories, the Disco was on and it concluded the Carabao de Colores Festival 2018 as one big joyful and successful event.
