Duterte – No Reaction to Proposed Federated Region
Philippine President Rodrigo R. Duterte has no reaction to the proposed Negrosanon Federation Region (NFR) which will merge the provinces of Negros Oriental and Negros Occidental. Similar to the NIR (Negros Island Region), the Nergosanon Federation Region will be spear headed by both the governors of the oriental and the occidental province.

The vice governor or Negros Occidental Eugenio Jose Lacson along with the rest of the authorized head are waiting for the president’s reaction regarding the formation of the NFR. The president on his side is waiting for the recommendation of the Consultative Committee (ConCom) on the task studying federalization.
Knowing the president, if he feels that there is something to be changed, he will change it,” said vice governor or Negros Occ. Eugenio Jose Lacson.
Dinner in Talisay City
The president himself went to attend dinner with the Yanson family and friends and some local officials of the province. They discussed their matters like the groundbreaking of the housing project for the police and soldiers.
Invited in the dinner were Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr., Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Calatrava Mayor Araceli Somosa, Escalante City Mayor Eddie Montero, Valladolid Mayor Enrique Miravalles, San Enrique Mayor Jilson Tubillara, Talisay City Mayor Neil Lizares, Silay City Mayor Mark Andrew Golez, Kabankalan City Mayor Isidro Zayco, Sipalay City Mayor Oscar Montilla Jr. and Third District Representative Alfredo Benitez.
The president officially departed the province at 1 am on May 22, 2018 – Tuesday.
