ECQ Lifted in Negros Oriental as of May 1, 2020

ECQ Lifted in the province starting May 1, 2020.The Provincial Governor Roel Degamo signed Executive Order No. 29 Series of 2020 yesterday, April 30, 2020. Continue to read to know more about the rules and regulations of the new GCQ or General Community Quarantine in Negros Oriental.

ECQ Lifted – GCQ Implemented

Although the province of Negros Oriental has been downgraded back to GCQ, other areas of the Philippines are still on Enhanced Community Quarantine. Philippine President Duterte announced last April 25, 2020, that the ECQ extends until May 15, 2020, for Luzon and other high-risk areas. While low and moderate risk areas can go back to GCQ.

Under Section 3 of EO No. 29 Series of 2020, all cities and municipalities are allowed to regulate store hours of all businesses in their respective jurisdiction. However, internet cafes, movie houses, gyms, bars, karaoke bars, massage parlors, and spas shall remain closed until further notice as well as tourism services, leisure facilities, gaming, and amusement centers.

Malls, department stores, and restaurants are allowed to open but should strictly adhere to physical distancing protocols and other protective measures. Dental and EENT Clinics, as well as barbershops and beauty salons, shall also resume services provided that strict health standards are followed.

Hotels, lodging houses, and inns are allowed to operate Provided that they limit services to locals and should not accept outside-the-province or country bookings.

Schools, Public Transportation & Mass Gathering

All schools, both public and private, are closed for kindergarten to senior high shall remain closed until further notice. However, Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) may continue classes to finish the Academic Year and issue credentials to students.

Public Transportation such as busses and jeepneys are allowed to operate with in the province only. The PNP shall take the lead in the conduct of checks to ensure that all health protocols are practiced inside the public utility.

Mass Gatherings are banned during the General Community Quarantine. This includes events such as cockfighting, gambling, religious activities and gatherings, social, political and academic functions, fiestas, events, parties, conferences, fora, trade fairs, and expositions.
