Central Visayas COVID-19 Cases Raise to 503

With the additional 40 new patients recorded last Sunday April 26, 2020, the Central Visayas COVID-19 cases has raised to a total number of 498. Today, April 28, 2020, there is a total of 503 cases in the Central Visayas. 

40 New COVID-19 Cases in Cebu City

The Department of Health-Central Visayas (DOH 7) with the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center sub-national laboratory released a total of 425 test results on Sunday, of the number, 43 are positive with the virus, three are repeat tests of previously confirmed cases.

All the 40 new cases were recorded in Cebu City. Out of these new cases, 39 are residents of Cebu while one is a person in the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-Cebu City Jail. The Department of Health in Region 7 also recorded 3 new recoveries from Lapu Lapu City. These include a 44-year-old female and two males aged 48 and 42.

The total number of laboratory negatives in the region is now at 28 while the deaths remain at 10.

In total, Cebu City has 451 cases including 16 recoveries and six deaths; while Lapu Lapu City has a total of 28 cases with five recoveries. Mandaue City with 11 cases (two recoveries and one death); Negros Oriental still at four (with two recoveries and two mortalities); Cebu Province at three (with two recoveries and one death). Bohol has no new case except the Chinese national who already recovered while Siquijor remains Covid-19 free.

Area Turned for General Enhanced Community Quarantine (GCW)

ECQ extends until May 15, 2020 for Luzon and other high-risk areas, while low or moderate risk areas will go back to the General Community Quarantine or GCQ. It has been finalized that the following areas will maintain the Enhanced Community Quarantine until May 15, 2020: Benguet, Pangasinan, Tarlac, and Zambales. However, this may change by April 30, 2020.

However, other high-risk areas in the Visayas and Mindanao will be subject for re-checking before any further extension. These high-risk areas subject for re-checking are Antique, Iloilo, Aklan, Capiz, Cebu, Cebu City, Davao del Norte, Davao City, and Davao de Oro.

The rest of the regions and provinces that aren’t mentioned will be placed back to General Community Quarantine.
