‘Scripted Tour’ at Bacong Parish

A ‘scripted tour’ is being prepared by the St. Augustine of Hippo Parish in Bacong, Negros Oriental, headed by Msgr. Julius Perpetuo Heruela, parish priest, as another approach for tourists to appreciate the history, artifacts, structure and other tourist attractions of the church.  Information and picture(s) of a particular subject will be displayed on a tarpaulin in every stop.  Brochures will also be prepared to complement the tarpaulins.  There will be no tour guides for the whole duration of the visit but somebody will be assigned to guide or direct where the next stop is in-between locations of the Bacong Parish.

Attractions of Bacong Parish

Msgr. Heruela said that the scripted tour will include tourist attractions in the parish grounds, the bell tower, the Church, the town plaza across the street, the centuries-old acacia trees and the old convent which is now a retreat center/function hall.

The pipe organ of the Church is also a must-see in Bacong.  Declared as a National Cultural Treasure by the National Commission for Culture and Arts, the pipe organ was made in Spain and one of the few remaining pipe organs in the Philippines that is still being played.

Another part of the scripted tour is still under construction.  A shrine in honor of St. Padre Pio will be included in the tour after its inauguration and blessing.
