First Lady of Valencia forever remembered

Teresita Zartiga-Teves, Chit to both her family and close friends, has sadly passed away at the St. Luke’s Hospital in Manila where she got admitted for pancreatic cancer. She was 63 years old by the time she passed away. Just before she passed away, Chit laid in bed surrounded by her husband Edgar Teves (mayor of Valencia), daughter Maria Petina Elliott and her granddaughter Ynah.

Who is Teresita Zartiga-Teves?

Teresita Zartiga-Teves or Chit is the first lady of Valencia and is loved by almost all people. Chit is indeed valued by her clients of Eterna Funeral parlor. Her clients all over Negros Oriental would ask for her personal service for their deceased loved ones.  She gives one of the best touch to the body in order to make it natural and “like they were just sleeping”.

At this moment of her death, all of Chit’s daughter-in-law , who have became licensed morticians themselves, and her husband worked on their beloved mother’s body.

“She inspired us all to become licensed embalmers and she trained us well in all aspects of the profession…,” said Juna May.

Chit’s farewell

Hundreds of Valencia’s residents were at the Dumaguete airport to meet their lady’s body from Manila. Mourning and weeping close friends, clients and fellow family member lined up to see her beloved body being gently driven back to her home town.

The requiem mass was made for Chit last Wednesday afternoon, March 2, at the Our Lady of the Abandoned Church in Valencia. Now her body is six ft. beneath the ground in the Dumaguete Memorial Park, her soul however is in heaven, where her good soul belongs.
