Fiberglass Boats for NegOr Fisherfolk

The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) – Region 7 has allotted P2 million under its regular budget for the fabrication of 16 fiberglass boats for selected beneficiary fisherfolk in Negros Oriental.  Florenci Mepania, Provincial Fisheries Officer, said that a total of 164 deserving fishermen from 16 cities/municipalities of the province were identified as a result of cross-matching the list of the national housing targeting system and the fishery sector registration.

They will undergo a two-month hands-on training on the fabrication of fiberglass boats which will commence upon the arrival of materials from Cebu within this week.  Evelyn Catanda, Training Assistant of the Regional Fisheries Training and Fisherfolk Coordination Center of BFAR-7, arrived Tuesday in Negros Oriental with 5 technicians.
