Bids for Bangka Boats

After a few occurrences regarding illegal fishing and smuggling here in Dumaguete, the city mayor Hon. Felipe Antonio Remollo have decided to buy three pump boats worth of two hundred forty thousand pesos (Php 240, 000.00) with in this year.

Bangka Boats

The three bangka boats (pump boats), with a 16-horse power will be used not only for legal steps but for ocean clean-ups and rescue operations as well, confirmed the City Environment and Natural Resources officer Rossel Marie Garcia. The boats will be distributed in the main coastal barangays of Dumaguete; namely Piapi, Looc, Calindagan and Banilad. Bantay Dagats (sea patrol) and authorized fishermen from these barangays will be in charge of the usage of these bangka boats.

The purchase will be through a public bidding that will be made with-in this year. With the worth of Php 240, 000.00, the twenty percent budget of the Development Fund for 2017 will be used for the purchase.

The Rescue 348 is being requested from Councilor Joe Kenneth Arbas, that will inform them regarding the activity and requesting for any form of assistance during the celebration of the “Bora sa Tinago ” (Swimming celebration in the shores of Tinago during their fiesta events).
