EDC Youth Campin Valencia

Student leaders from different colleges and universities in Negros Island will be in Valencia, Negros Oriental Wednesday to attend the EDC Youth Camp or how it is called completely 3rd Binhi Youth Camp, a 3-day activity sponsored by the Energy Development Corporation (EDC).  This was announced by Norreen Bautista, head of the Community Partnerships, External Relations and Watershed Management Group head.

The participants, 17 from Negros Oriental and 16 from Negros Occidental, will be oriented on different components of sustainable development and renewable energy, specifically on geothermal energy, and on EDC’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts and the Binhi greening legacy, EDC’s flagship reforestation program.

Specifically, Binhi aims to reforest at least 1,000 hectares nationwide every year and since its launching in 2008, it has planted almost two million seedlings on almost 3,000 hectares in Negros Island alone.  Because of EDC’s increasing partnerships with other organizations, Binhi was further enhanced in Negros Island through its “10M in 10” movement launched last year, targeting 10 million trees in 10 years.

My name is Daisyrie S. Barredo and I currently live in, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental. The art of journalism have caught my attention ever since I was a little girl. Writing is a passion only few are able to get and fewer people to achieve. With a touch of an opportunity, I was able to commit myself in following my passion in writing. I found peace and joy whenever I do my job as an article writer and I will continue to do so.
