Barangay-based Anti-Crime Movement Launched

The barangay-based movement against corruption and illegal drugs was launched by the Department of Interior and Local Government during the re-orientation of barangay officials Monday.  This was also attended by the barangay council members who are heads of their respective Peace and Order committees and the barangay tanods.

The movement, Mamamayan Ayaw sa Anomaliya, Mamamayan Ayaw sa Illegal Drugs (Masa Masid), at the barangay level is a community-oriented, multi-sectoral activity that is aimed at eradicating criminality, corruption and drug abuse.  Furthermore, it encourages the active participation of the residents through volunteerism.

During the orientation, personnel from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency – Negros Island Region (PDEA-NIR) and the Prosecutor’s Office were invited to talk on related topics regarding the government’s anti-drug campaign.
