To review on the said 10M in 10 for Greener Negros, this project was to aim for a cleaner and greener place in Negros by planting about 10 Million trees and plants around the roads and public places in the Negros Island within 10 years.
Updates and improvements
According to records of the EDC, about 400, 000 trees were planted in the 470 hectares in Negros Island since last year. With about 403, 444 hectares remaining to restore, protect and grow, the estimated year of the project’s deadline, 10 years, might just be enough to make a change in the society.
Former Assistant Secretary of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Prof. Marlo Mendoza said that to ensure the success of this greening program, a roadmap and strategies need to be employed with the various partners in a Bayanihan plantation, adopt-a-plantation, and EDC’s BINHI greening legacy.
During the past four months after the “10M in 10 project” was launched in 2015, EDC has established 470 hectares planting activities with 375,556 seedlings, 5,000 mangrove propagules planted in Tanjay City. This planting activity washeaded by Negros Oriental Association of Corps Commanders, who also established website and Facebook page to help spread valuable information about the movement, among other activities.
