Santa Catalina and Dumaguete City Joins Sinulog Festival 2020 in Cebu
Ten out-of-town contingents have registered for this coming Sinulog Festival 2020 in Cebu. The Sinulog is one of the biggest festivals in the whole country. It is a celebration of colors, flowers and dance. Santa Catalina and Dumaguete City will be two of the ten groups who will join the festivities.

Only ten out-of-town groups have registered for the festival. Sinulog Foundation Inc. executive director Jojo Labella said, though, that they expect more contingents to sign up as the festival draws closer. Among the participating groups that have already registered are the local government units (LGUs) of Panglao in Bohol, San Carlos City in Negros Occidental, and Sta. Catalina and Dumaguete City in Negros Oriental. The Sinanduloy Cultural Festival of Tangub City, a 12-time defending champion and a crowd favorite every year, will also join Sinulog 2020 as a competing contingent this time. The group was a guest performer in the last Sinulog. In Cebu Province, five LGUs will compete in the parade—Carcar City, Talisay City, Bogo City, Toledo City and Ginatilan town. Ten Cebu City barangays will also compete, including Basak San Nicolas’ Lumad Basakanon, Guadalupe, Labangon, Mabolo and Cambinocot.
A contingent from Wonjong, South Korea will again perform as a guest contingent during the grand parade on Jan. 19, 2020. In an interview on Wednesday, Nov. 27, Labella said the foundation will finalize the activities for Sinulog 2020 during a meeting Wednesday night.
The Sinulog Governing Board has lined up several activities and everything will be finalized on Wednesday night. The SFI will also have new activities,” he said .
Last January, 24 local and out-of-town contingents joined the Sinulog grand parade and competed in the Sinulog-based and free interpretation categories.
Santa Catalina & Dumaguete City for Sinulog
After winning as the grand champion of this year’s Buglasan Festival 2019 Street Dancing and Showdown with their Pakol Festival, the municipality of Santa Catalina is bursting with pride and honor. The monkey festival of Negros Oriental has always made the top of the best festivals in the province. Of course, being the capital of Negros Oriental, Dumaguete City is also honored to present the Sinulog Festival in Cebu. The festival has also received different awards during the Buglasan Festival 2019.
