Priest died of cardiac arrest

Bishop Julito Cortes together with the whole Diocese of Dumaguete are devastated by the death of Fr. Abel Dalaguit, a 55 year old priest assigned to the St. Augustine Hippo Parish in Bacong, Negros Oriental. He died of cardiac arrest early Tuesday in his room at the convent in Bacong.

According to Msgr. Julius Perpetuo Heruela, parish priest of St. Augustine of Hippo Parish, the late Fr. Abel Dalaguit was about to conduct a mass at 6am but failed to appear in church calling the attention of thr parishoners to check on him.

Fr. Abel Dalaguit is remembered as a priest with good sense of humor and warmth. His remains lie at the Christian Formation Center, Bacong Parish, until May 14 then will be later on transferred to Marian Priests’ Center in Dumaguete City until May 15. There will be a succeeding mass at St. Catherine of Alexandria Cathedral on Sunday then his remains will be brought to his hometown in Camotes Island, Cebu.
