JMC Kings wins PCCL Davao title

The Jose Maria College (JMC) of Davao City wins two titles within two days beating the Davao City Collegiate League (DCCL) men’s basketball at the University of Mindanao (UM) Matina gym.  The Jose Maria College Kings won themselves the championship title in the third ACQ Cup Invitational Basketball League Monday evening of December 17, 2015 at the JMC SkyGym.

The Jose Maria College Kings, who were couched by Flordelito Cagampang, won by twenty-four points ahead of the Mats College of Technology Navigators (72-48) during the finals. The championship’s trophy and the fifty thousand pesos (P 50, 000) were both captured by the Jose Maria College Kings. The Navigators, however, got the runner-up’s prize worth thirty-five thousand pesos (P35, 000).

The former University of Sto. Tomas Growling Tigers, Levi de la Cruz, scored an incredible 10 points in the championship game while his teammate, Rodyard Vincent Noya led scoring with 14 points.  Levi de la Cruz was also announced as the most valuable player of the game.

Levi de la Cruz receivedtwo thousand pesos (P2, 000) and a trophy while Rodyard Vincent Noya received one thousand pesos (P1, 000) as part of the Mythical Five along with teammate Bob Clu Ombecan, RMC’s Chad Abanes and HCDC’s Josh Aguillon.

On the MVP’s (most valued player) interview he mentioned:

“Ang efforts po namin sa training na adopt narin pagdating sa games,” he said. (Our efforts during training were also adopted during the game) “Defense first before offense. Sinipagan po namin.”

And during his MVP title, he mentioned, “Nakatyamba lang po.” (I just got lucky.)
