69th Dumaguete Charter Day and Fiesta 2017

Today marks the day of the 69th Charter Day of Dumaguete City and its successful events which were held from November 14 to 26, 2017.

69th Dumaguete Charter Day

The 69th Dumaguete Charter Day was celebrated with a civic parade around the city streets yesterday around three in the afternoon. Thousands of people made their way through the sidewalks to view the different school marching bands, government offices, Zumba groups, Dumaguete wheelers (motorbike groups) and other participating sponsors who paraded yesterday.

The day was concluded with a few fireworks displays. There were some households around the city who already celebrated the Fiesta 2017 with food feasting during the “disperas” or eve before the actual fiesta.

City Fiesta 2017

Traditions like fiestas are celebrated due to the influence of the Spaniards who colonized the country hundreds of years ago. Dumaguete City will be celebrating the 2017 Fiesta with the usual food feasting and merry making. Karaoke singing, disco dancing and music bands are to be expected around the city and throughout the different barangays of Dumaguete.

Some of the highlights of this year’s 69th Dumaguete Charter Day celebration includes: Miss Dumaguete 2017, Folk Dancing Competition, Dance Beat Competition, Duma Comida and of course the Christmas tree lighting.
