Dumaguete City to use S-PaSS system for Local Travelers
Dumaguete City’s Local Government Unit (LGU) is preparing to utilize the use of S-Pass (Safe, Swift, and Smart Passage). It is an online system used for the local traveler of Filipinos in the country. It helps in the communication and connection of the traveler and the LGU of destination.

According to the City Tourism Officer, Jacqueline Antonio, it will be easier for travelers coming to and from this capital city to simply carry their S-Pass identification instead of presenting several requirements under the current system.
She said having an S-Pass is a lot easier as it will address the restrictions and requirements which vary from one province, city, or municipality to another. At present, Dumaguete City requires an inbound traveler to log in on its website and fill out a form and request a letter or certificate of acceptance from the local government unit of destination. A negative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test result with a validity of 72 hours within the date of travel is also required.
According to Antonio, the migration to the S-Pass is expected in about two weeks as some personnel are still undergoing training on the use of this particular system.
What is S-PaSS?
The S-PaSS is an online travel management system institutionalized by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases. The system is facilitated by the Department of Science and Technology. It is intended as a one-stop communication and coordination platform for travelers and Local Government Units (LGUs).
Only those who intend to travel need to use system. Travelers can check the travel policy and requirements of their destination LGU. They can also use it in applying online for travel documents depending on the travel policy of the LGU.
