Revival of Archery in Negros Occidental
Provincial Sports Coordinator Angle Verdeflor revealed plans of the Negros Occidental Sports Office to revive archery. Dumaguete and Negros Oriental have good archery facilities that have produced great archers and Negros Occidental will be following their footsteps.
In 2005, the Negros Toxophilites Guild (NTG) was established and one of its archers qualified to represent the country in international events in Myanmar, Thailand and Germany. With support from the Provincial Government, NTG hosted the Negros Occidental Archery Open in 2008 which proved that the province is a place for advancement of archery in Negros Occidental.
The Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City have enough space for an archery range, as well as for other facilities for field events like javelin throw, discus throw and shotput, among others.
