Rodrigo Duterte’s Rivals Conceded

Presidential candidate Grace Poe-Llamanzares conceded defeat to her fellow presidential candidate and front runner, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Late evening, after the partial and unofficial tally of votes showing the tough talking mayor leading and leaving a landslide behind him, Poe called Duterte and told him she will concede.

Poe who was the top 1 senatorial candidate last election have led the commissioned surveys a couple of months before the election date and have proved to be a very tough cookie to beat.

“I’m giving way, I respect the results,” she told a news conference. “Duterte has a mandate. Let’s give him a chance.” the senator added.

Just like any other precinct in the archipelago, malfunctioning vote counting machines (VCM’s) were the accounted reason for the delay of the election process and transmission of results to Commission on Elections (Comelec) headquarters.

Soon after, at about noon today, Liberal Party standard bearer Manuel “Mar” Roxas conceded to the iron fisted Mayor Duterte. A couple of hours after Poe’s yield, Roxas’ spokesperson announced that the former DILG secretary will himself be making a formal announcement in the morning at around 10 in the morning. Roxas arrived at around noon and have formally announced that he will be conceding.

Truly, this year’s national elections have proved to be a very colorful and memorable one.
