Dengue records for 2015

The rise of dengue cases have raised by about 28 percent from 2014 to 2015. Total deaths percentage, on the other hand, have risen to 1.53 percent on the total dengue cases based on the records of the different health units all over Negros Oriental. Dengue has taken away 17 live in the year 2015 with a total of 2, 055 dengue cases while a total of 1, 460 dengue cases and only nine deaths were recorded for the year 2014. Over all, health authorities claimed that an extreme rise of 41 percent was noted for the incensement of dengue.

What is Dengue?

Dengue is a tropical disease caused by dengue mosquitoes, which were popularly common in the 2000’s when increase of death all over the world has crossed the roof line. This dengue fever may last for about a week or more, depending on the stage the person is already in. Different symptoms include: increase of body temperature, low platelets, drowsiness, muscle and bone pains, joint pain and rash.

Since the Philippine is located in the tropical zone, dengue cases can’t really be avoided. Even if it can’t be avoided, there are still ways to prevent them.

Prevention and cure for Dengue

According to the team leader Health Department in Negros Oriental Dr. Socrates Villamor, environmental protection is the key to less dengue cases rise. Since mosquitos love damp and cold areas, Dr. Villamor advise everyone not to leave the laundry areas, sinks, or tanks wet and unattended.

For a patient who is suffering mild dengue fever, drinking lots of water and eating fruits and vegetables rich in protein and carbohydrates are recommended. For severe dengue fever, Dr. Villamor advised to directly got to nearby hospital for medical assistance.
