Fake Gold sold for 2 Million in Dumaguete

Police Officers of Dumaguete City arrested last Thursday, June 21, 2018, three people for the illegal selling of two kilograms of fake gold for Php 2,000,000 (2 Million pesos). Drug raids in Canday-ong and Barangay Calindagan of Dumaguete City caused the arrest of many drug dealers and drug pushers.

Selling 2 Million Fake Gold

The buyers of the fake gold reported the said discovery of counterfeit items. The sellers were then identified as Dennis Dindo Niñofranco and Ramil Medecio both 45 years old from Mindanao. They were arrested red-handed in a hotel in Barangay Looc. Dennis Dindo Niñofranco cooperated and told the police of their third member of the alleged fake gold selling. The third member was then identified as Ryan Teves, 26 years old from Dumaguete City and was arrested in an operation held in Barangay Taclobo.

City Police chief Superintendent Jonathan Pineda has pressed charges of syndicated estafa to the three suspects. He is looking at the possibilities that the two Mindanao natives are part of the Mindanao-based swindling syndicate.

Iyan ang modus nila eh. Pupunta sila sa isang lugar, magbebenta, at kapag natapos na ang transaksyon nila eh lilipat na ng ibang lugar bago sila mahuli ng pulis,” Chief Police Pineda said. (That’s the way they are. They go somewhere, sell, and when their transaction is over, they move to another place before they get caught by the police)

Drug Raids – Related?

In another story related to the rising crimes in Dumaguete City, four suspects were arrested for a confiscation of drugs & paraphernalia and impounding of nine unit motorcycles. Leading the drug raid was Ian Paul Arapols under City Chief of Police Supt. Jonathan D. Pineda. All the suspects were identified to be natives from Barangay Canday-ong and Barangay Calindagan of Dumaguete City.

This raid was held about a month ago but may have little or no connection to the selling of fake gold. What do you think? Let us know in the comment below.
