Athletes prepare for CVIRAA 2018
The annual celebration of the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) 2018 will be held from the 24th of February till the 2nd of March. Athletes from all over the Visayas, especially in Cebu, are preparing for the said sporting event.
Cebu Athletes Ready
According to the Cebu Provincial Sports Commission (CPSC) executive director Ramil Abing, the unified training went well and all the sports were covered. Ramil Abing also mentioned that “the athletes are now ready”. There are 698 competing athletes from Cebu and a total of 968 for coaches, staff and other officials attending this year’s CVIRAA.
In last CVIRAA 2017, Cebu garnered 37 gold medals, 41 silvers medals and 47 bronze medals. They also garnered the second overall for score.
Preparations for Bohol
The Bohol province will be the main host of the 2018 CVIRAA,and co-host Tagbilaran City have estimated a number of over 6,000 to 7,000 student athletes for this year’s CVIRAA sporting event. Dr. Luz Jandayan, the chief of Education Support Service Division (SSD) for the Department of Education (DepEd) Region 7 mentioned that the venue is preparing all they can to be in place.
When it comes to the billeting, we have already assigned schools for the 19 divisions,” she said.
We have also checked the venues together with the tournament managers, officiating and division supervisors last month,” she added.
