Drug Pusher Shot in Valencia

A suspected drug pusher and two students were hurt in a broad daylight shooting incident at Barangay Palinpinon in Valencia, Negros Oriental Tuesday morning, the police said. An initial report from the Philippine National Police (PNP) here said that at about 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, two unidentified suspects riding-in-tandem on a motorcycle shot at the three victims at Purok Chico in Barangay Palinpinon, Valencia town.

The victims were identified as Ryan Asoy Piñero, 38, single and Reanne Paler Dela Torre, 20, married and Faith Estoras Que, 19 years old, both students of the Negros Oriental State University (NORSU). Piñero is listed as the “number 5 top drug personality” in Valencia, according to that town’s police chief, Chief Insp. Alfonso Enriquez through the Amigo Cops Negros Oriental PNP Text Blast project. Piñero was rushed to the Holy Child Hospital in Dumaguete City for treatment after he sustained at least five bullet wounds on different parts of his body.

The students, meanwhile, were brought to the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital, also in this capital city, for treatment of bullet graze wounds. They were apparently hit by stray bullets, the police chief said.

Valencia police chief Enriquez disclosed that the students were just alongside the road, perhaps on their way to school, when suspected drug pusher Piñero, who was riding a motorcycle, was shot at by the suspects. Police are still on pursuit operations for the suspects who were described to be on board a yellow motorcycle.
