3 of 4 Jail-Brakers Died

Yesterday, at around 4 in the afternoon, a concerned citizen notified the Tayasan COP that he saw the four Negros Oriental Provincial Jail-Breakers in Sitio Tinibngan, Brgy. Saying, Tayasan.

Police takes immediate action against jail breakers

Acting Provincial Director, Senior Supt. Harris Fama, was immediately took actions and activated the manhunt team. A composite team, headed by Chief of Police, Insp. Luis Lacandula, teamed up with the Tayasan PNP. After their briefing, they immediately proceeded to the hiding place which is 4km from the highway.

Jail-Breakers fire first

The suspects mainly Aspacio Maximo, Richard Balasabas, and James Magdasal died during the firefight while the fourth one, Rico Bandico survived but was wounded and taken to a local hospital.  The fugitives escaped the detention center after taking hostage a lady pastor of the Seventh Day Adventist who was conducting a bible study session inside the Negros Oriental Provincial Jail. The suspects left their hostage as they fled the scene in a desperate attempt to evade arrest.

Around 4 pm and about 4 kilometers from the highway, the team was deployed at the scene to issue the arrest but was then greeted with rounds of ammunition from the escapees.

When the escapee detected the presence of the police, he fired the first shot provoking the police to fire back. According to Amigo Cops PNP Text Blast Project, the shootout lasted for 30 minutes. Aspacio Maximo, Richard Balasabas and James Magdsal died from the encounter, while Rico Bandico was captured alive.

The police recovered a 38 caliber, one “sumpak”, and two fragmentation grenades.

The PCOs and PNCOS received Fama’s recognition for accomplishing a good job. The escapees already had murder cases and are extremely dangerous as they hostage a pastor inside the provincial jail in Dumaguete City when they escaped, Fama added.

 

6 seized for illegal drug possession

Yesterday, at 2 in the afternoon, a buy-bust operation of drug-dealing was caught by Anti-drug operatives in Negros Oriental. Suspects Raffy Pilayo and Midacristy Amatril are said to be residents of Pardo, Cebu City.

Accorsing to PD Harris Fama, the suspects was arrested on-site of their transaction with an imposter buyer. They were about to deal on one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet suspected to contain shabu, weighing more or less 0.5 gram with estimated street value of P5,000.

The search went on and four more suspects named JP Vargas Granada, Jenny Elayon Ramirez, Mendelson Manaban and Ernie Torres Gemira were arrested for possession of four big heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of shabu with estimated weight of 20 grams with DDB value of P200,000.

The over-all confiscation amounted to P350,000.

Together with the shabu, three big transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu powder weighing more or less 15 grams with DDB value of P150,000, one mini Ingram with one magazine, one live caliber 25 ammunition and recovered three empty fired cartridges were also recovered.

In addition to the report, there was an exchange of gunfire during the operation. Ernie Gemira had a gunshot in his left leg. Cases for violation of RA 9165 and Omnibus Election Code Comelec gun ban will be filed in court, Fama said.
