Year-End Bonus and Cash Gift for Government Employees
Early Christmas cash gifts and year-end bonuses for government employees can be claimed starting this Wednesday, November 15, 2017. Budget Secretary Benjamin E. Diokno have set the guidelines for and qualifications for the availed bonuses.
Year-End Bonus and Cash Gift
As stated in the Budget Circular of 2016 there will be a year-end bonus and cash gifts for all government employees. The year-end bonus will be equivalent to the monthly basic salary of a personnel as of October 31, 2017, while the cash gift will be worth PHP 5,000.
According to Budget Secretary Benjamin E. Diokno, an amount of PHP 32.8 billion pesos will be budgeted for the year-end bonus for the employees while the cash gifts will sum up to PHP 6.9 billion. The amount will be distributed by the end of the year to all the government employees and workers who have followed the guidelines and qualifications.
Qualification and Guidelines for Government Employees
All personnel (regular, contractual, casual in nature, appointive, elective, full-time, part-time, Executive, Legislative, Judicial, Constitutional Commissions, Constitutional Office, SUCs, GOOCCs, LGUs and etc.) can avail the year-end bonus and cash gift not earlier than November 15.
Employees must render at least a total of 4 months of service from January 1 – October 31, 2017, and must remain to be in the government services as of October 31, 2017, to avail the bonuses and cash gift.
Former president Benigno S. Aquino III signed the Executive Order (EO) No. 201 last year ordering the grant for government employees during the month of May as a mid-year bonus.
