Silliman Students win awards in UAPSA

Students from Silliman University under the College of Engineering and Design Architecture Department came home to Dumaguete with awards after the celebration of the 24th United Architects of the Philippines Students Auxiliary (UAPSA) was held in Baguio City last May 18 to 20, 2017.

UAPSA was first established back in 1989 by Jesus M. Reyes with the hopes of bringing together students all over the Philippines in unite and have an academical and cultural experience along the way. The UAPSA Nation Congress circulates on this year’s theme which is Milenyo:”Kulturang Pilipino, Sinaunang Etniko, Bagong Milenyo.” (Milennium: “Philippine Culture, Ancient Ethnic, New Milennium.”)

The main objectives of this celebration are (1) to give opportunities and allow students to participate and collaborate with each other, (2) to thrive the minds of the students in being aware and responsible for the said profession, (3) provide off-campus and true-to-life learning experiences.

Architecture Awardees

Architecture students Robert Banse, Joachim Pia Castillo, Sofia Trinidad (Campions in the Quiz Bee category), Chris Angelo Zerna and Camille Louise Marie Alcantara (1st place in Fashion Design), Misaki Shirabi, Arlene Dominique Uy, Allibert Tan (3rd in Architectural Interior Design Model Making), John Victor Gonzaga (3rd in Spoken Poetry) and delegates Jerrymar Jamilia and Ma. Celina Saavedra (Photography and Miss UAPSA Area C respectively) came home with their awards after the National Congress of UAPSA.
