Possible 700K Tourist Arrivals

With the growing trends in the country, more tourists are arriving from all over the world to come and stay here in Dumaguete City and Negros Oriental. Status reports noted that since the year 2014, the number of tourists’ arrivals have grown from about 519,429 to nearly 700,000 visitors.

Tourist Arrivals in Dumaguete and Negros Oriental

The growth of Negros Oriental tourist arrivals in 2014 have totaled to 519, 429 while the year 2015 totaled to 625, 295 and recorded a new high in 2016 with 696, 403. According to Maritoni Mascardo of the Provincial Tourism Office, the figures showcased the continuous increase of the tourists’ arrivals.

From the first five months (January to May) of 2017, the number of tourists was noted to be 333, 939. If the same amount will satisfy the months of June to December, the number of tourist arrivals will easily exceed the 700,000 expectations before the end of the year.

Accommodations

With the growing number of tourists’ arrivals who come and go for a vacation or holiday, more hotels and resort are expanding their accommodation treats for the visitors. Being the capital of Negros Oriental, most travelers have to stay a few nights in Dumaguete before going elsewhere in Negros Oriental.

Negros Oriental is rich in cultural practices like the celebration of fiestas and festivals, which are held all year round. Buglasan Festival is one of the greater examples for attracting tourists from all over the Philippines and the world. Fiestas, on the other hand, are celebrated all year round in different municipalities, cities, and barangays.
