Nutrition Month 2018
The month of July in the Philippines was created as the Nutrition month under Presidential Decree 491 of 1974. Yesterday morning July 8, 2018, Dumaguete City celebrated the Nutrition month with the Nutri Fest celebration that started around 6 am till past eight in the morning.
Nutrition Month in Dumaguete
This year’s Nutrition Month theme is “Ugaling Magtanim, Sapat Na Nutrisyon Aanihin” which means to the deeper meaning of making planting a hobby leads to harvesting a healthy and nutritional life.
Hundreds of students from the different schools in Dumaguete City attended the NutriFest celebration held yesterday Sunday at the Perdices Coliseum Sports Oval. Both public and private high school and college students all over Dumaguete gathered as early as five in the morning to the venue of the celebration.
The program of the event kicked off with a few introductions singing performance. After this, a Zumba dance energizer was made and the start of the different competition started. Every year, the Nutrition month cheer, slogan making and poster making marks as the highlights of the whole celebration. All the educational institute are welcome to give a representative to join in the competition.
According to the Presidential Decree 491 of 1974, the month of July shall be designated as NUTRITION MONTH, for the purpose of creating greater awareness among our people on the importance of nutrition. Activities thereto shall be approved and coordinated by the Council. This Nutrition Month of July shall be in lieu of the previously declared Nutrition Week in March.
