New Motorcycles for Dumaguete Police

The Dumaguete Police Office received six brand new motorcycles from the City Government of Dumaguete City to enhance efficient anti-crime capabilities. With the war against plastic waste in Dumaguete City, these new motorcycles can help increase efficiency in the said war against plastic waste.

Leading the turnover of the new equipment was City Mayor Felipe Antonio “Ipe” Remollo. He turned the motorcycles to Supt. Jonathan Pineda, chief of the Dumaguete City Police in a ceremony held at the city hall grounds. Mayor Ipe Remollo emphasized that the turnover of vehicles is part of the city government’s continuing support to the city police’s efforts to maintain the peace and order situation in the city.

Just last week we turned over to our police force six bulletproof vests and including the body cameras, unom pod sila kabuok (six units also),” Remollo said.

The city government has also turned over two aerial drones with the military capability to the city police last August. The city’s local chief executive also disclosed plans to turn over one unit of Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) to the city police. The six brand-new motorcycles cost PHP 1.3 million with 250cc capacity.

We assure you that these equipment, we will take care of them and then we’ll use these for maintaining the peace and order in Dumaguete City. Probably these motorcycles will be baptized this coming Civil Service Month and subsequently sa Sandurot Festival,” Pineda said.

War Against Plastic Waste

Just a few weeks ago, Dumaguete City leads the war against plastic waste by implementing the “Zero Waste Cities Project Dumaguete”. About a month or so, Dumaguete City also started restricting the use of double plastic in the public market and for some even forbidding the use of plastic. With this, more and more people are being responsible when doing their groceries and bringing their own shopping bag.
