Free Tuition in Negros Island
There are four SUCs in Negros Island that will be receiving the offer of the free tuition fee. This includes the Carlos Hilado Memorial State College in Talisay City, Northern Negros State College of Science and Technology in Sagay City, Central Philippines State University (CPSU) in Kabankalan City-Negros Oriental and the Negros Oriental State University in Dumaguete City- Negros Oriental.
The SUCs in the country is composed of 49 states and colleges from Luzon, 31 from Mindanao and 26 from the Visayas. Earlier last week, the president was tempted to reject the law.
The CPSU president Fred Maningo commended the Philippine president for having a “strong political will” even with the suggestion of dismissing the measures. Mangingo said that the CPSU have an amount of Php 42 million in total for the national government covering for the tuitions and expenses of different colleges. This would be distributed accordingly to the 114 SUCs in the Philippines.
“It was proportionately distributed to all SUCs nationwide,” he said.
Both private and public school will receive scholarships from the government. Students who cannot afford their own education will have the great opportunity with the development of the Free Tuition in different SUCs.
