Negros Governors Invited to Attend Palace Meeting
The two governors of the Negros Island Region were given invitations to attend a meeting with President Duterte that is tentatively scheduled on January 19. Governors Alfredo Marañon, Jr. of Negros Occidental and Roel Degamo of Negros Oriental confirmed that they will be going to the meeting.
Degamo said that when he received an advisory from the Department of Interior and Local Government Negros Oriental Provincial Office, he was not told what would be the agenda of the meeting but he is expecting that it would be about the anti-drug campaign of the administration. In the meeting with the mayors last week, Duterte revealed that Negros Island Region ranks third in the list of regions with the most number of drug-affected barangays, following National Capital Region (first) and Central Luzon (second). Degamo further said that Duterte is really very serious in this anti-drug campaign even if it will lead to his downfall.
