Negros Coffee Production Facility

A Negros coffee production facility worth P1.2million was turned-over to the Baslay Farmers Association (BFA) of Brgy. Baslay, Dauin-Negros Oriental by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) under its Shared Service Facility (SSF) program.  Turn-over rites were led by DTI-7 Regional Director Aster Caberte who said that this project will definitely increase the income generation of the member-farmers because they will be able to sell roasted negros coffee beans at P300 per kilogram instead of selling only red berries at P20 per kilogram.

DTI supports coffee production being one of the six national industries that it is promoting due to its increasing market demand.  Coffee is one of the most consumed beverages in the Philippines and is gaining popularity among the youth.

SSF is one of the department’s flagship program in the development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to improve quality and productivity by providing processing equipment for the common use of members of project beneficiaries.
