Karate-do Championships in Cebu
The Mayor Joel Quiño Cup Regional Karate-do Championships will be held at the Compostela Gymnasium in the municipality of Compostela, northern Cebu. With eleven karate clubs joining in the gathering, the regional karate-do championships will be on July 28-30, 2017.
Mayor Joel Quiño Cup Regional Karate-do Championships
The tournament is named after the re-elected Mayor, Joel Quiño. The said Karate-do Championships will be celebrating its second (2nd) event this year. The Cosca Karate-do Team in Dumaguete City garnered second place in overall with a 11-8-3 medals (gold-silver-bronze respectively), while the host team last year garnered 18-6-3 medals (gold-silver-bronze respectively) last year.
Dumaguete will be sending two of their teams, the Dumaguete Hayashi-ha Shitoryukai and the Dumaguete Hakuakai, for this year’s tournament. In other regions and areas, the teams of Siaton Hayashi-ha Shitoryukai Club, Bayawan Hayashi-ha Shitoryukai, Siquijor Hayashi-ha Shitoryukai, Bacolod Hayashi-ha Shitoryukai, Hakuakai Magsaysay of Misamis Oriental, Eskrido Club of Bogo City, JKAB Camotes Island, JKA Talamban and host team Philippine Hayashi-ha Shitoryukai Cebu will be expected for the said tournament on July 28-30.
More participants are being encouraged by the tournament director, Reynante Vidal, head coach of Team Hayashi-ha Shitoryukai Karate-do in Cebu. This championship this year will also help the Visayas Karate Union (VKU) to identify qualified and skilled karate-dos as mentioned by some organizers.
Some of the competing patricipants in this year’s Mayor Joel Quiño Cup Regional Karate-do Championships are: Rafael Vidal, Enzo Hipulan, Stephen Durano, Sean Bascones, Ricah Faith Vidal, Franzel Yanna Cainila, Ayanna Lein Vidal and Christine Mae Sato.
