Gilas Pilipinas Shines

Gilas Pilipinas basketball team became an instant shining star after their victorious game on FIBA Asia against China. Next on their list is Iraq, which lost during their fight with Gilas Pilipinas during the Jones Cup.

The Philippine national basketball team for the male category has made a huge step to the spotlight. Earlier last July, Gilas Pilipinas Head Coach Chot Reyes shared his thought on the team’s hard work and practice for the FIBA Asia game with China. He pushed the team in their goal in “We must beat China”.

Iraq, Next in Line!

After the victorious game against China, the Gilas Pilipinas will be facing Iraq during their game at Nouhad Nawfal Sports Complex at 9: 00 pm  tonight(Manila standard Time)! Playing for the Iraq team includes DeMario Mayfield, an American-Iraqi nationality. The Iraq players will be given a different view to Gilas Pilipinas during their game tonight after their game in the Jones Cup in Taipei, with the score of 84-75.

According to some referrers and other authorities, the Philippine-Iraq game was one of the dirtiest game during the Jones Cup 2017. Two from the Filipino team, Christian Standhardinger and Carl Cruz, were, in fact, thrown out during the game.

Head Coach Chot Reyes quickly defended his players with a short comment, The Fiba rules state that being thrown away will not directly mean an automatic suspension for the next game. Knowing that the team will play with someone taller and heftier (like Mayfield), the head coach said that team needs to get their head together even more.
