Fun Run for Dengue Awareness

A fun run will be co-sponsored by the Government Agencies’ Association of Negros Oriental (GAANO) and Live Again, a private organization headed by Adoni Goñi, who had dengue on two occasions already.  Dubbed as “Dugo Ko, Gasa Ko Fun Run”, it is scheduled on October 16 at the Freedom Park and will both be an anti-dengue campaign and a blood-letting activity.

Dengue has taken the lives of six people in the province as of August this year and aside from providing valuable blood supply, the fun run is just one of the many approaches for increased awareness on dengue prevention, said GAANO president and GSIS Dumaguete Branch manager Atty. Mercedes Enriquez.  On October 16, a video presentation will be shown during releasing of bibs at 5:00 am and a “recoreda” on anti-dengue concerns will also be aired along the 5K run at the 6:00am gunstart.  Blood-letting is at 8:00am

Registration fee for runners and for zumba participants (for those who don’t want to run) will be P150.00.  Funds from this event will be donated to the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital (NOPH) for the dengue victims and blood screening through the “Dugo Ko Kinabuhi Ko Program” of Fr. Antonio Arnaiz, NOPH chaplain.
