Fire Prevention Month Dumaguete

The Bureau of Fire Protection here in Dumaguete City has prepared several activities in celebration of the Fire Prevention Month for March this year.

Fire Prevention Month

The Fire Prevention Month is an annual nationwide observance held every month of the month of March to remind every Filipino to take precautions to prevent destructive fires. Since summer is coming, the weather temperature is heating up, causing more forest fires and other fire related incidents all over the world. This is one of the many causes of this annual prevention and preparedness month.

The kick-off activity on March 1 will be a nationwide simultaneous Walk for a Cause, dubbed as Walk for Fire-Free and Fire-Safe Nation, announced by the City Fire Marshall Chief Insp. Arnulfo Sayson.

Walk for Fire-Free and Fire-Safe Nation

This walk-for-a-cause was participated by some BFP personnel, volunteer fire brigades, public servants, professionals, students and various sectors. It started aroundt 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, around the City’s main thoroughfares, ending at the Ninoy Aquino Freedom Park for an opening program.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of observance of Fire Prevention Month with the theme: Kaalaman at Pagtutulungan ng Sambayanan, Kaligtasan sa Sunog ay Makakamtan (Knowledge and Unity of the community, brings safety to the people).

Just as the season of summer is fast approaching, we must be more careful on what we do and most especially on the things around us, reminded the City Marshall Chief. Be alert, ready, safe and most especially updated on the things happening around you, he added.
