Facebook Philippines Office opens in Manila

Finally a Facebook Philippines Office is officially opened in Manila. The dominating social website will further strengthening the company’s position and investment in the archipelago. In a press statement the managing director of Southeast Asia, Kenneth Fisher declared:

“With 91 percent of Internet users in the Philippines on Facebook, this is an unprecedented opportunity for business to connect with today’s mobile-first Filipinos.”

Digs Dimagiba is appointed to be the head of the Facebook Philippines Office in Manila. His goal is to establish a close relationship between Facebook and the local partners and agencies by using the variety of Fasebook’s social media solutions. Dimagiba is no stranger to the tech-sector. He is the former mobile business director for Samsung in the Philippines. In an interview he mentioned:

“The Philippines is a country that has seen a tremendous growth in connectivity in recent years, creating one of the world’s most highly engaged online populations,”

Filipino Facebook Users Top in Statistics

Statistics show, that Filipino Facebook users are among the most active users in the whole wide world. According to Facebook Southeast Asia vice-president Dan Neary, who led the event in Makati, mentioned, that there are 49 million monthly users in the country. 27 million Filipinos are using Facebook daily. The Filipino user has 60 percent more friends than the average. Compared to the global average, Filipinos are sending 20 percent more messages.

Facebook Philippines Office is temporary

The temporary office of the internet giant is presently on the 35th floor of the Eco Tower in the Bonifacio Global City located in Taguig. How long it will remain there was not announced during the event. Furthermore, were no announcement made about future locations or how many employees the Facebook Philippines Office will have.
