ESL Tour Destination in Demand
Philippine is in demand for English as Second Language (ESL) education by neighboring countries of China, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. The Department of Tourism (DOT) Philippines have identified specific areas for marketing that could also boost the tourism factors of the country.
ESL Modules and Courses
There are different packages for the English learning courses here in the Philippines. There are modules that vary in different ranges for a week to a month of courses, depending on the foreign student’s capability and needs. One-week modules are usually conducted daily with many immersion activities and integrated programs. For one-month courses, students still have their regular immersion activities but are allowed to have organized out of -town trips during the weekends.
According to Tourism Secretary Wanda Corazon T. Teo, ESL can be a great way of showing off the different tourist destinations throughout the country. More foreign students can learn and enjoy a holiday-like-vacation during their ESL courses.
“With a booming tourism industry and improving economy, it is no surprise that the Philippines has become one of the choice destinations of foreigners for high-quality and affordable education, as well as for fun vacations,” she said.
Tour Destinations
There are a great number of foreign students, dominantly by Koreans, can be found living and socializing in areas of Metro Manila, Baguio, Angeles City in Pampanga, Metro Cebu, Metro Iloilo-Guimaras, Negros Occidental and Oriental, Metro Davao and Cagayan de Oro in Misamis Oriental among others.
In Negros Oriental, Dumaguete City is known as a “University Town” and the gateway to tourist attractions in the region. ESL courses and tour destinations are now at ease with the different colleges and universities can be found throughout the city (including Silliman University, St. Paul University, Foundation University, and Negros Oriental State University). Being the gateway to the different tourist destinations and attractions in the region, Dumaguete City is not only suitable for learning courses but for a great weekend getaway experiences as well.
