Dumaguete SWAT Team – Pending Creation

The pending creation of the Dumaguete SWAT Team is now being awaited by the Dumaguete City Police Team. The Sangguniang Panlungsod or city council has sent a resolution on this creation to the Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office (NORPPO).

The proposal of the creation of Special Weapons and Tactics or SWAT Team in Dumaguete City is said to provide lawmen with increased capability in addressing man-made threats to lives and property in the growing capital of Negros Oriental. Superintendent Jonathan Pineda, the City Chief Police, has recently informed the City Police Advisory Council (CPAC) of the submission of the Resolution No. 138 series of 2018.

During the same meeting with the City Police Advisory Council (CPAC), Superintendent Jonathan Pineda suggested the creating of different clusters or sectors with own vehicle patrols for a better emergency response. Below is the suggested clustering of Sectors of Security in Dumaguete City.

Five Sectors of Security in Dumaguete City

Sector 1 composes the different barangays of Candau-ay, Camanjac, Batinguel, Motong, and parts of Taclobo. The 05 Mitsubishi Strada will be assigned in this sector.

Sector 2 will be assigned to the Hilux 516 patrol vehicle in responding to calls for emergencies coming from the different barangays of Taclobo, Pulantubig, Bunao, Daro, Bantayan, Piapi, Looc and Poblacion Barangays 5, 6 and 7.

Sector 3 will be assigned to Mahindra 016 vehicle which will cover the areas of Bagacay, Banilad, Mangnao, Calindagan, Tabuctubig and Poblacion 1, 2, 3, 4 and 8 with them.

Sector 4 will comprise the barangays of Bajumpandan, Cantil-e and Babajuba while. The Mitsubishi Strada 02 patrol vehicle will be in charge in this sector.

Sector 5 comprises the barangays of Cadawinonan, Talay, Junob, and Balugo with the 01 Mitsubishi Strada vehicle as its watch.

Bridge – Construction Awaits

Aside from the creation of the SWAT Team, the city government of Dumaguete City has “planned” to repair and reconstruct the two damaged bridges in Taclobo-Bagacay Overflow and Colon Overflow.
