Crime Rate in Negros Oriental Down

Supt. Carlos Lacuesta of the Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office (NORPPO) announced that the total crime volume of the province for 2016 is 18% lower than that of 2015.  He made this announcement during the recent meeting of the Provincial Peace and Order Council meeting.  The total crime volume of 9,803 is composed of index and non-index crimes, crimes under special laws and traffic related incidents.

Lacuesta said that Negros Oriental is generally one of the most peaceful places in the country but the numbers reflecting the commission of major crimes, although isolated, will affect the perception of the security and safety of the area.  He said that this will remain a challenge for NORPPO to show its capability.  For this, he promised more aggressive police actions and enhancement of monitoring and intelligence activities.
