Coming Soon: Free Public Wifi
As of today, the world is mostly run by technology, social medias and networking. Inclined to the betterment of Dumaguete City, Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo will be taking part in the signing of all documents corresponding to the free public wifi project.
Free Wifi Projects
The Pipol Konek (people connect) project will be providing free public internet access in areas such as Quezon Park, Rizal Boulevard and the City Hall very soon. Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) will be in charge of the project.
DICT said that the free wifi will only have a few number of slots available. Each person is allowed to only use 50MB to 100MB per day, to regulate the number of users. This will also ensure the internet speed and connection stays at 256mbps.
The documents signed by the city mayor was passed by the City Council and was proposed by the DICT representative Secretary Atty. Rodolfo Salalima. The Memorandum of Agreement proposal of the free wifi project will be taken to action once the it is materialized.
If the project goes well, Dumaguete City Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo will take another step in assuring more of the free wifi hot spot around the city with the appropriate agency funding.
Dumaguete will be full of events for the coming month of September and October with the celebration of the Sandurot and Buglasan Festival respectively. Last year, free wifi were available around the Aquino Freedom Park during the Buglasan Festival.
With the Pipol Konek free wifi project this year, tourism rates are expected to increase. Now that the city is supporting internet and networking, the youth and other internet users around the city will be pleased.
