Clean-up of Informal Settlers in Dumaguete

The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has continually conveyed the need to impose policies on maintaining order within the Dumaguete Port Zone for safety and security purpose of all concerned, especially with regards to ambulant vendors and informal settlers.  It has expressed optimism that a solution may be reached with the participation of Dumaguete City Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo in the development planning.

A press release from the Mayor’s Office stated that informal settlers may be relocated within Barangay Looc so that they can continue with their income-generating activities.  The mayor will also negotiate with the PPA management for the provision of bunkers for port workers.
