City Orders Shop Closure with Person-to-Person Contact Amidst Coronavirus
All shops in Dumaguete City that involves person-to-person contact such as massage parlors, fitness gyms, spas, and internet café are ordered to be close. City Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo announced last night March 22, 2020 the shop closure through Executive Order No. 14-B Series of 2020 through their page on Facebook. Amidst the coronavirus pandemic, the city government and the medical teams are doing everything they can to prevent the spread and cutting those who are tested as positive.
Dumaguete Shop Closure – Prevent Coronavirus Spread
Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo, Chairperson of Inter-Agency Task Force COVID-19, has issued additional Executive Orders designed to enhance the precautionary measures to prevent the possibility of transmission of COVID-19, as follows:
1. Executive Order No. 14-B Series of 2020 and Order Amending Executive Order No. 14 and 14-A providing exemptions to certain entities and establishments from the limitation on hours of operation
SECTION 1 of the said Executive Order states that certain commercial establishments normally operating 24/7 scheme in Dumaguete City shall continue operations at 24/7, such as hospitals, medical clinics, pharmacies, and drug stores, water refilling stations, business process outsourcing establishments, money transfer services, power, energy, and telecommunications facilities. Provided, however, that these establishments shall strictly observe the requisite hygiene in the workplaces, practice social distancing between and among employees and clients and mandatory wearing of face masks.
2. Executive Order No. 15 Series of 2020 An Order Amending Executive Order No. 14 Series of 2020 by Enjoining Internet Café Owners/Operators to Cease Operations Until Further Notice
Section 1 of said Executive Order provides that Internet café owners/operators operating within the City of Dumaguete to cease operation of their business establishments starting March 22, 2020 until further notice.
3. Executive Order No. 16 Series of 2020 An Order Directing all Barangay Tanods, City’s Inter-Agency Task Force COVID-19, City Police and Auxiliary Police to Strictly and Consistently Implement all Executive Orders in Relation to COVID-19 Duly Issued by the Office of the Mayor
4. Executive Order No. 17 Series of 2020 An Order Enjoining all Massage Parlors and Massage Therapist Groups, Spas, Tempura Stall, Fitness Gyms, Wellness Clinics, Barber Shops, Beauty Parlors, and similar Establishments and those Vocation Engaging in Person-to-Person Contact to Cease Operations or Offering of Services to the General Public Until Further Notice
Section 1 of the Executive Order Enjoins all massage parlors and massage therapist groups, spas, tempura and street food stalls, fitness gyms, wellness clinics, barber shops, beauty parlor, and similar establishments and those vocations engaging in person-to-person contacts such as massage therapists, manicurists, tempura and street food vendors, pedicurists, beauticians, barbers, and similar vocations to cease operation or offering of services to the general public within the jurisdiction of the City of Dumaguete until further notice.
CASH ASSISTANCE/EMERGENCY EMPLOYMENT FOR DISPLACED WORKERS: The City Government and the Department of Labor and Employment will provide financial assistance to qualified workers of the affected industries. There is also an alternative livelihood project that will be offered by the Public Employment Service Office and DOLE that provides emergency employment for displaced workers under the TUPAD program.
