Last night, June 23, 2020, Cebu City went on full lock down as 930 new COVID-19 cases were recorded in 1 week. According to Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella through a video on Facebook, an IATF has recognized the amount of people going out of their homes despite being under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ). As directed by the DILG, Cebu City Mayor has ordered to cancel all quarantine passes.

Cebu City on Full Lockdown – Rise of COVID Cases

Brig. Gen. Albert Ignatius Ferro, Central Visayas police chief has noticed that a lot of people are on the streets despite being on strict enhanced community quarantine. With Cebu City on full lockdown, people who must buy essential goods such as food, can do so inside their own barangays. Exempted during the lockdown are health care workers, call center agents and bank employees.

As of June 23, coronavirus has infected a total of 4,479 people and killed 89 people in Cebu City. Ferro said there was a need for people in Cebu City to stay home to stop coronavirus transmission.

In order to stop people from going out, City Mayor has ordered to cancel all quarantine passes that has been given to at least 250,000 city residents starting on June 23, 2020 at 10:00pm. Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella made this clear in a video his page on Facebook posted last evening.

We have been directed by DILG to cancel all quarantine passes issued to Cebu City residents. This drastic measure was put in place after an Inter-Agency Task Force team went around the city earlier today and still found many people out of their homes,” Labella said in a late-night statement.

We have been directed by DILG to cancel all quarantine passes issued to Cebu City residents. This drastic measure was put in place after an Inter-Agency Task Force team went around the city earlier today and still found many people out of their homes. We will work to ease this transition as part of efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19. There will be difficult days ahead but let’s keep our eyes on our common goal, which is to save our community from this pandemic.
