Bishop Calls for Rejection of Death Penalty

Diocese of Dumaguete Bishop Julito Cortes is again calling to all Catholic lay faithful to be one with the Church’s stand on the death penalty re-imposition.  This stand is supported by statements from Rome, one from Pope Francis in his document Amoris Laetitia, saying that the church is rejecting death penalty, and another from Pope Saint John Paul II describing death penalty as cruel and unnecessary.  The Catholic Church all over the country is praying for enlightenment of government leaders and legislators as they continue to discuss and debate on this matter.
