4000 Policemen deployed in NIR to ensure safe Polls
On Thursday, May 5, 2016, in a send-off ceremony held at Camp Alfredo Montelibano Sr. in Bacolod City which is led by the Chief Superintendent Conrado Capa, director of the Police Regional Office in Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR), stated that more than 4,000 policemen and soldiers, including around 700 augmentation forces are already deployed for the upcoming May 9 presidential elections.
Capa told his men to guard and protect the safety of this coming election with their lives and that there is no valid reason to fail. He empathized with them but reminded them that the sacrifices of endured heat, hunger and sickness will pay off if a peaceful election is attained.
15% of policemen remain in stations
Despite the number of deployed police, Capa reassured that 15% of the police forces are still in their respective stations to monitor municipal election and quick reaction teams.
Negros Oriental’s director of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (Norppo), Senior Superintendent Harris Fama, has also deployed 1,442 police forces coming from different units.
Commander of the 303rd Infantry Brigade, Colonel Francisco Delfin, said that they are already conducting clearing operations. He highlighted the presence of 2 boat units and a helicopter that are on stand-by if in case needed.
